Suffolk Norse, has signed a five-year fuel management contract with Triscan Systems, as part of a long-term strategy to reduce fuel costs by bulk storing fuel.

Suffolk Norse, a subsidiary company of Norse Commercial Services, one of the UK’s leading Facilities Management and Services groups, first approached Triscan Systems in 2014 in a bid to find a fuel management partner that could consolidate their refuelling operation, provide scalability to match their growth targets, and offer continuous improvement initiatives to provide a cost effective solution to their fuel challenges.

Triscan was granted the contract to provide the business with a 25,000-litre bunded diesel tank, above-ground and PPG-compliant. At the same time it installed a real-time Apollo 2 fuel management system, web-based Odyssey World software, 70 lpm Zeon diesel pump, and electronic tank gauging at two of its sites in Suffolk.

The project’s installation was divided between two specialised teams of engineers – hardware and software; the efforts of whom were co-ordinated and managed by a Triscan employed Prince 2 Project Manager.

The benefits achieved by the project include:

  • Making significant savings and allowing for the accurate forecast of fuel budgets
  • Integrating a scalable software solution for multi-site, multi-vehicle operation
  • Providing the ability to monitor fuel 24/7 from any remote location, while gaining immediate sight of real-time fuelling data
  • Reducing administration time and increasing confidence through accurate and seamless data capture, reported into one software system
  • Providing real-time access to current fuel stock and reconciliation data, and being alerted to low stock level warnings and disabled fuel pumps.

The Managing Director at Suffolk Norse, says: “The implementation has been very successful. The money already saved in moving to the Triscan system has proved to be significant.

“Traditionally, drivers were travelling off-site to re-fuel at a public forecourt, which gave us little control or visibility of fleet fuel usage, and resulted in vehicle and driver downtime while vehicles diverted from normal duties to refuel.

“This new system allows us to keep a constant check on fuelling operations, stock levels and consumption, all of which helps in efficiency of fuel usage across the company.

“Throughout the project implementation, the Triscan team remained motivated, professional and extremely focused on providing the best possible service in the required timescale.”

Since the successful completion, Triscan has also installed a 2,500l plastic bunded AdBlue tank, and 35l/min AdBlue pump, with 5m hose and auto shut-off nozzle and holster.

Triscan is a UK-based systems and software manufacturer. Using the latest technological advancements, the Triscan team is made up of dedicated engineers and project managers to respond quickly to customers’ needs.

As the Suffolk Norse project illustrates, says Triscan, its services, capabilities and expertise cover the spectrum of project requirements, allowing it to offer an integrated solution that spans from initial consultancy through each element of the manufacture, supply, installation, and ongoing service and maintenance of the equipment.

Users of Triscan’s Fuel Management Systems include haulage and logistics companies, bus, coach and other commercial vehicle operators, the emergency services, local government authorities and major industrial undertakings.
