Somerset based haulage and transport specialists, JF Pearce & Sons, have invested in The Triscan Group’s turnkey fuel management solution at its newly opened depot in Shepton Mallet.
The depot replaces the legacy non-compliant fuel facility on a previously rented site and is part of a wider construction project completed by JF Pearce to further invest in their fleet transport operations. Following a rigorous and thorough selection process, The Triscan Group won the contract to implement a fuel bunkering facility on site, which would enable round-the-clock fuel dispensing and recording down to the individual driver and vehicle.
The core requirements of the JF Pearce project were threefold: first, to implement a user friendly system which would allow for the identification of the vehicle fuelling, driver and odometer figure; second, to enhance the speed of the refuelling process by allowing three vehicles to fuel simultaneously; third, to ensure that all tanks and equipment were compliant with current PPG2 regulations.
The turnkey project, which saw the implementation of The Triscan Group’s end-to-end solution, included the construction of four fuel islands, three with a FuelSafe fuel management system linking to a twin pump and the fourth to a gasoil pump for refilling power packs on the rear of the trailers. The systems are all linked back to The Triscan Group’s PC-based Supervisor software where all transactions are recorded. The deal, which was completed last month, also included an above ground PPG compliant 75,000 L split bunded tank (65,000 L diesel, 10,000 L gas oil), and a 10,000L AdBlue bunded tank. All are fitted with the The Triscan Group’s A10 electronic tank gauge providing tank gauge readings visually and in the software.

The specification included everything from the fuel management systems, pumps and gauging to the installation of the pipework and fuel tanks. We wanted full visibility of all fuel used and stored on site 24 hours a day. Throughout the process I became increasingly impressed by the team’s capability to put together a complete commercial forecourt installation package, from start to finish. The team worked closely with third party contractors onsite to oversee the installation of the pipework and tanks, and worked quickly and efficiently when fitting and calibrating the fuel management systems, pumps and gauges.
